Benefits of Bridge Pose in Yoga

Fear, there has been alot of fear and anxiety in all of our lives as of late. You all know what the foetal position is right? Well when we get  scared our natural reaction is to close down the front of the body.

This protects the vital organs and the vulnerable space just like we would to in a foetal position. There is a reason why that position feels safe!

Over time tension develops in the front of the body as the muscles tense in an attempt to close in and protect.

Bridge pose is the antidote to that. It is the exact opposite of a closed in, hunched over protective or fearful stance.

It is apose to open up, breathe deep and release that stagnant stuck energy of fear and tension from across the chest, shoulders, thighs, hips and stomach.

Don't get me wrong if you are in the full blown swings of a panic attack. The need to feel safe takes priority. In those moments curling up into a safe feeling ball could be the right thing to do.

But if you want to move and shift stagnant energy and tension from long term fear and stress, then Bridge pose is the one for you!
