How To Meditate : Your Meditation Is Difficult ? Advice On Some Common Meditation Issues

This is me meditating my ass off. I know many of you have found meditation difficult or difficult to fit in to life.

I found that too when I first started so heres my top 2 tips :⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1) You do not have to be sitting like this to meditate. Infact you don't have to be sitting at all.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You can have a meditative practice walking the dog or making a cup of tea or in the shower.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Start today. Pick something like when you take a shower. Shift your attention fully to the moment you are in. Feel the feeling of water falling against your skin, notice warmth and cool, notice sounds, sensations and smells. Don't rush around them rest your attention with them. Be relaxed. Be effortless.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Then switch your attention inward. Notice your mind. Notice thoughts coming and going. Feelings coming and going. Again just rest your attention there. Don't react. Don't buy in or form a relationship with anything you are observing. Don't resist or fight. Just allow and observe. You are becoming the impartial observer. You are meditating!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

2) Meditation is not about having control. You do not gain control over your mind and your mind does to stop coming.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You learn to allow the mind to come BUT you learn to let it go too. You learn not to be pulled into it. You simply observe the comings and goings. You learn non reactivity.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is what arises when you allow what is rather than try to control it. You become the unwavering stillness in amongst the fluctuations.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
